Dan McLeod's Fuselage Jig

Dan’s Playboy Senior Fuselage fills his home-made fuselage Jig. It will make it easy to build a square,’plumb’ fuselage

"Because I will be building several larger models with stick type construction the small amount of time invested in building a jig is justifiable. The pictures show the fuselage of the Playboy Sr. I'm building for the FoxaCoy event. The jig is fully adjustable and allows you to build accurately up off the board. So far I am happy with the results."

Dan McLeod

Dan is a Luthier (builder of stringed instruments, primarily guitars) so he is an accomplished woodsmith and a very well organized model builder (judging from the very clean model shop illustrated here) The illustrations show it all. A Baltic Birch (Russian or Finnish Birch) plywood base and (apparently) 1/8 inch birch ply for the triangular squares that hold the sides to the fuselage in place. It couldn’t be simpler to build. Decide what scale you want the base to support and size your base accordingly , Figure out a median fuselage width that would accommodate several different designs you

triangles are slotted to accept a bolt with a washer that will attach to a T-nut anchored below the board, allowing the vertical member to move in and out to accommodate the desired width of the fuselage.

anticipate building “one day.” The Playboy Senior (80-inch wing full size) is a good starting point for large models.(you could use the Lanzo Bomber full-size as another good reference for size as well) The fuse
