Keep airplane flying safely at all times. If no buddy box then grab transmitter immediately from student if plane is too low, flying into sun, too far downwind or heading for trouble. |

Have student conduct preflight checks below |

Demonstrate to student pilot the flight maneuvers below, as required. |

Never allow student to let the plane drift randomly, especially down wind. |

Direct student through flight maneuvers below until he can perform them predictably |

PREFLIGHT
|
|
| Proper attachment | Wings, tail group, motor, control linkages. |
| Stability | CG position, unintended wing warps. |
| Range | Check whenplane is new or newly repaired. |
| Other | Frequency pin, check wind direction. |

FLIGHT
MANEUVERS
|
|
| Take Off | ROG take off preferred. Hand launch ok if no landing gear (e.g. electric glider, scale etc) |
| Landing | Within designated landing area, 25 ft x 100ft. |
| Rectangular Circuit | Over-fly the landing area, flown both left pattern and right pattern. |
| Figure of Eight | Fly at constant height, with intersection opposite pilot. |
| Deadstick Landing | Start at 200 ft altitude and land in designated area. |
| Aborted Landing | Conventional landing approach changed to climbing departure. |
| Trim Adjustment | Set elevator, rudder/aileron trim in flight. |

These flight tasks are based on the "A Certificate" required in Britain for RC pilots to fly in meets, fly-ins and contests. Actually our list goes slightly beyond the A certificate requirements because we have mature students and instructors. Also we fly year round and get more practice than the Brits and Europeans. |
